
As generators with a capacity of 300 megawatts are unable to generate electricity Ceylon electricity Board will have to spend Rs.80 million daily to supply electricity for consumers said Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.
Mr. U.R.A. Senaratne of the Technical Officers Trade Union says the conspirational policy of the Chinese company that administers the power plant creates technical issues in the power plant.
Mr. Senaratne says the Chinese company carries out deliberate destructive acts with the ulterior motive of continuing the massive contract of maintaining and administering the power plant.
Despite sending 100 Sri Lankans for training they have not been given a proper training says Mr. Senaratne.
An Electrical Engineer told ‘lankatruth’ that the coal powered power station has been non-operation from its commissioning not due to technical issues but because its system doesn’t suit Sri Lanka. He added that its technology too is outdated.
